Glitter and Gold

Just like the song, Silver and Gold
I have always loved decoration with silver and gold in my Christmas decor.
I'm going to post some more photos, as soon as I can- to share with you how I add silver and gold to my home!

The Tradition of Christmas Eve Dinner!

For most families Christmas Eve and Christmas Day are a beautiful time to be with relatives and carry on family traditions. My family thrives on traditions, especially on Christmas Eve.
We always go to a candlelight church service followed by a formal Christmas Eve dinner. in fact last night, My daughter said to me after church, "Nows it feels like Christmas."
This started by my grandmother, then passed on to my mother, and now I carry it on in my own home.

Here is a picture of the dinning room ready for Christmas Eve dinner.

Walking in a Winter Wonderland

Every year my husband Justin and I host our Annual Couple's Christmas Party.
It's a wonderful evening with friends, food, games and lots of laughter!
Here's a picture of candy bar table display for our guests.

Laundry Room Love!

This laundry room definably needed some personality! I wanted the room to feel calm, and happy, to make laundry more enjoyable:)
The before picture shows what the laundry room looked like when we first moved in the home two years ago. The after picture shows the new and improved room after my husband Justin put his carpentry skills to work!

Loving the Flocked Look!

I LOVE decorating with metallics, especially at Christmas time! The last few years winter whites have been increasing in popularity in Christmas decorating. Flocked trees are popping up all over Pinterest and in model homes and stores are selling more and more flocked tree limbs, greenery and sprigs.  So how do you add flocking to the green decor you already have?

More Thanksgiving Goodness!

I know it's December, but I still wanted to post a few elegant Thanksgiving pics from clients home:)
Her home was picture perfect for her guests on Thanksgiving day!
We used a wide range of textures to add a "wow" feeling! Leaves, beads, feathers, glitter, worked all together to create this one of kind fire place mantle and elegant table setting!

Kay-Lynn's Wonderland Birthday Party!

Welcome to Kay-Lynn's Wonderland!

My daughter came to me a few months ago and said she wanted an Alice in Wonderland Birthday Party! I was excited to plan such a whimsical event, and felt this party would stretch me creatively-it did!

Kay-Lynn didn't want a tea-party, but rather a Queen of Hearts look- with a vintage feel.
We were on a tight budget so a lot of the table decor came from my party storage closet!! (Including, the chess piece, the picture frame, the green rabbits, the clock, the topiaries... I even pulled the tea cups from my own dishes!) I did buy few things like the paper balls that hung from the ceiling and the cupcake wrappers. My husband even built and painted the "The Which Way"
sign with left over pallet wood in our garage!

The fourteen girls loved the decor and had a blast making edible tea cups and playing games.
It was a wonderful night had by all!

The Entryway Table!

Fall entryway decor! Ready to welcome guests on Thanksgiving day!

In most homes the entryway is the first piece of furniture and decor a guest sees when they enter a home. It sets the precedence for what the rest of the home looks and feels like- and can tell a lot abut the people living there.

Always make it an expression of you and your family members.

A Fall Center Piece

The fall decor is up! It's fun to add a little sparkle to the dining room table!

A Thanksgiving table isn't complete with out a statement centerpiece! This is one is was easy to do! I took glass candles sticks and apothecary jars that I bought last year, and mixed in the same fall beads that I used in last years fall decor. Then added some glitter and metallic pumpkins for a touch of shine and pizazz!

Warm Fall Touches

Fall is in the air here in Texas! We're are finally wearing pants and coats! It seems as soon as I put up my fall decor, it's time to take it down and put up Christmas! In fact, most stores don't even carry any Thanksgiving decor after Halloween.

So I wanted to share several different fall decor looks I've had over the last two years! Below is my entry table.
I incorporated some everyday decor with harvest decor  I went to Pinterest for a free printable to put in my picture frame.

Fun, Simple, Cheap Halloween Decor!

Holiday decorating is the best! I jump at the chance when people ask me to decorate their home for the holidays!

However, holiday decor can be expensive depending where you shop. The Dollar Store is a great place to get decorations for dirt cheap. They're not the best quality, and they might not last year to year, but it makes for a fun holiday!

Baby Shower Bliss!

I have a passion for parties! It's a lot of work but I just love it! here's a baby shower I threw yesterday from my friend. She's having a bouncing baby boy, so we went with mint green, gray and white for the color scheme, and a elegant decor.

My friend Holly, named her son Hyrum, and their last name is Hatch. So I chose an monogram letter "H" to be the main theme.
Once again credit goes to my Husband, Justin, who designed all the labels and food signs. He even drilled the hole in the top of the mason jar lids for the straws to go in! He also spray painted the letter H white (It was originally black).  He is amazing and I could have done this with out him!

My friend Jamie made the adorable cookies! As you can see she is super talented! My other friend Wendy made the three different kinds of cupcakes! Carrot cake, coconut, and custard filled creme!

Glamour in the Kitchen!

Why not add glamour to the kitchen? Instead of three pendant lights over my kitchen island I chose this sparkling beauty!

Freshening Up Part 2

Last post I showed the bathroom. After loving the bathroom color pallet so much, I decided to mirror the look with the connected bedroom-all while sticking to a strict budget!

First, we painted all the walls the same green color in the bedroom. Then the dresser, head board and nightstands all got a face lift. (They went from being a brown wood color to white.) We also added glass knobs on to the furniture for a feminine feel. Next, we replaced the curtain rods from a black rod iron to brushed nickel and added crystal finials to the ends.

I picked a faux taffeta stipe taupe drape to give the room some depth and to keep it like it wasn't all "flying way." (Plus they matched the carpet color.)  The armoire we kept creme to give some contrast and not make the room look like baby nursery. Then finished the room with new bedding, lamps and accessories!

With some changes, and not a lot of money, you can get a whole new look and feel to a room!

Freshening Up!

A lot of people tend to think small bathrooms or powder bathrooms are always dark if they don't have natural light coming from windows? Here's a bathroom I did that brings in a refreshing and spa like feel-with out a window!

Blast From the Past

I thought I'd share a few picture from my son's bedroom in our old house. We've been in our new, larger home for about eighteen months now and it's defiantly a work in progress. When I get my kid's new bedrooms finished I'll definably post- but for now their  a work in progress.

I wanted a vintage car feel, but I also wanted to keep the room simple from the clutter of car decor. I chose bright red and blue colors. I wanted to convey a happy, cheerful atmosphere for my 7 and 4 year olds. The bedding is all from Target, except for the sheets. I figured it was better to not spend a ton of money for my boy's bedding since they are pretty active and I didn't have to fret if it got ruined. The car signs are from Potter Barn Kids several years ago. For the wall decor/shadow boxes, I went to different antique stores and found old maps, vintage signs, and license plates with the states that had memories to me.

Inside one frame are maps, and pieces from the east coast- where my parents are from. The second frame covers middle America-primarly Texas- where we live now. And the third displays the west coast where my husband and I lived for several years.

Also, inside each of the large frames there is meaning to why I chose the pieces I did. For example: the bingo game was the just like the bingo activity I did when I was a kid. Uno and the face cards symbolize the fun games we played to pass the time on long family road trips etc.
I'll post so up close pictures of the frames so you can see them better.

Entry Gallery Wall

This gallery wall is on a client's entry way to welcome guests and family members as they enter in the home. We used some frames she already had, and bought new frames at Hobby Lobby.

If the pictures look upside down that's because we turned the frame upside down to fit just right. At the time I took this picture (with my phone-that's why it's not great quality), the client hadn't taken out the pictures that came in the frame to add her own personal pics into every frame.

A Few Accessories Make Big Changes!

Welcome to this cozy and inviting home! The client wanted to their new home to have character and a more personalble feel.
To keep with the wooded, peaceful, feel of the home, bringing natural elements and texture were a must! Airy florals, light grass decor, stick sprigs, were mixed in with metallic and glass vases did the trick.

A Brand New Looking Bookshelf

A client asked me to add to rearrange her current built in book shelf. I forgot to take a picture of the before, but basically it was just stacked up books.
After looking over what could we could use that she already had, I was able to use some books from her collection that matched the color pallet, and were in good shape.  Then we made some trips to Stein Mart, Home Goods, and Hobby Lobby for some more needed decortaive pieces. We picked up the topiaries, some new frames, the clock, the vase, and the greenery for another vase she already had. The other books we that weren't displayed were stored in the cabinet with doors, just below.
After rearranging and moving things around-
Voila! A brand new, clean, organized, model home like book shelf!

The Kitchen Table...

Tip of the Day: Fresh or fake fruit in a simple white bowl can make for a stunning kitchen table center piece. In this client's home, the white bowl brings a clean and fresh look, while the fruit helps to create a welcoming atmosphere.

The Coffee Table...

I love waking up and seeing the morning sun coming through the wall of windows in my living room. I just had to capture the way the light reflects off the coffee table decor.

It's a simple coffee table centerpiece- but still makes an elegant statement. Plus, the extra tall candles give more dramatic height than normal candles.
You can find the candles at Ikea and the candle sticks at Home Goods. The tray came from ZGallerie.

A Landscape Feel

It was a serene, landscape color pallet for this home!
The client, Julie, wanted to refresh the kitchen and family rooms without painting the walls or replacing the big item furniture. She was on a tight budget, but wanted to make noticeable changes. She wanted her rental house to feel like a home.

She had a very open floor plan so the two rooms needed to flow. Using old accessories she had around the house, I mixed it with new decor purchased from stores like as Home Goods, and Hobby Lobby. Everything came to together!

After suggesting to paint existing coffee and sofa tables, Julie did just that and transformed them like new! We came across the perfect window panels from Pottery Barn. They were the exact colors in our color pallet- with a paisley pattern to give the room some texture and interest.

Her kitchen had high vaulted ceilings- so tall accessories above the kitchen cabinets were a must! The accents also had to have splashes of color to go with the unity of the two rooms

It turned out to be a wonderful relaxing area without breaking the bank!

Above the kitchen cabinets.

My Love for Birthday Parties

I LOVE throwing parties as much as I LOVE interior decorating! My Hubby Justin and I make a great team! He is a Graphic Designer, so together we design, the water bottle wrappers, invites, banners, food tags, etc-all together! The custom touches make the parties so much more interesting and personable!
So every once in a while I want to show case a party or birthday party- just because it's so fun!

My Daughter's Glamping Birthday Party!
The fourteen girls had a blast snacking on trail mix, pop corn, chips and candy. Then they each made camp t-shirts, roasted s'mores in our back yard fire pit, chatted in a tent with their flash lights and gave each other glamourous make overs!

Spring Time is Here!

After a cold winter, Spring is so refreshing! The colorful flowers and tall trees start to bloom, the grass turns green again, the sun shines more, and the stores capture all that by brining out and displaying their Spring decor.
Here's some super simple ideas to to help usher in a happy spring-like feeling in your home!

Front entry table greets guests with colorful Easter decor from Hobby Lobby and Ikea.

Side table show cases a beautiful orchid from Home Goods.

Gallery Wall Love

Gallery walls can be all different shapes and sizes-
here's a smaller one I did to fit the clients wall and budget. Sorry not the best picture.

Tip of the Day

Grouping accessories together is my favorite part! The decor always looks better when grouped in odd numbers.
